This 63 page early Victorian Scrapbook arrived with a New Zealand find a few years ago. Originally dated 1856 from her “Affectionate Momma” to Emma Agnes Dew, Dew’s scrapbook includes an early image of Maori people next to a long hut, a page full of original illustrations with a notation they were created by “Cruikshank the illustrator of Dickens”, 13 poems (some appear original) signed by Needham, and several additional pieces of original art. Then, there are multiple pages of scraps, die cuts, and book/art plates tipped or pasted in as well. There are a few pages with injury due to the paste, but by and large this is a phenomenal early Victorian scrapbook from the empire. You will not find another southern hemisphere scrapbook of this calibre on the market today. Several pages are shown here.
